Harry Truman said: "The only thing that stands between us and dictatorship is politics." Think about that for a minute. We may feel disgusted with the campaigns for president and with politics generally. But we need political parties and politicians to make our democracy work. If we don't make democracy work, anarchism and dictatorship will follow. HOWEVER, we need to drastically improve our political process.
I got this quotation from Don at Romeos' lunch today. He heard it from his uncle Rufus Burris, who was a close friend of Truman.
