Extremist Hal
He left a good executive position in the East and moved to the West with his wife and small child, with no assurance of a job, so he could be on his own. He has climbed to the tops of the Matterhorn, Mt. Rainier and all of the major mountain peaks in the Tetons. He and seven others were flown to a glacier in Alaska; made camp by digging in the ice; were there for a month, unable to contact anyone on the outside world; and were dependent upon a plane coming back, landing on the ice, and picking them up. Next Spring he is back-packing to the bottom, and back to the top, of the Grand Canyon. And yes, he was a Gullah dancer at the Elderhostel, as can be seen by going to Picasaweb.google.com/larryrsmith8 And this is just a small sample of the doings of this adventuresome, independent, high-achieving, magnificent man.
