Last night, in Jan's absence, I observed Earth Hour. This was a world-wide program to promote environmental awareness and energy efficiency. Participants were asked to have all lights out between 8 and 9 Kansas City time. I turned off all of our house lights. It gave me kind of a strange feeling, but time to reflect on ways that I can best conserve energy. More insulation, more fuel efficient automobile, less driving. less vacation traveling, turning down the heat, turning off all unnecessary lights and appliances. These are a few of the things I am considering.
