Be the Best That You Can Be

I have come up with many slogans or catch phrases that are intended as guidelines for better living. But of all, I believe that the above is the best. In the Declaratiion of Independence it is stated "All men are created equal." This is true so far as equal right to llife, lilberty and the pursuit of happiness. But it is not true as to one's body and inherited talents and abilities. I think you live the happiest life when you accept the fact that there are others who are better than you as to any particular trait or activity. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't try to be the best at whatever you do. Happiness is in the striving. If you do your best, you should have no regrets, but should find satisfaction in what you have achieved.
A good example of where winning isn't everything or the only thing: marathon running. Most runners have no hope to be the big winner. But they take pride and joy in participating and finishing and in trying to improve their own record or being the fastest as to their age.
The slogan "Be the Best That You Can Be" applies to all aspects of living: physical, mental, spiritual and social. It means being a kind and loving person; taking pride in yourself and your achievements; living a balanced life; living life as a whole in the best way that you can.
