Macon, MO

This is Marcia Haseltine--Jan's daughter--who played the role of the flamboyant Ouiser in Steel Magnolias at the Maples Reportory Theatre in Macon the past two weeks. We saw the show last Wednesday Nite. And what a magnificent performance by Marcia! The show really came to life when she made her dramatic entrance. This was the reason for our trip. It so happens that Macon is right on the way to Springfield, IL, Hannibal, and Shelbina, where there are things and people that we wanted to see.
Dr. Robert Bradley, shown in pictures 5, 6, and 7 on our pictures web, is the former head of the Dept. of Theatre and Dance at MO State University at Springfield, MO. He has directed a number of plays , in which Marcia starred, at the Vandevort Theatre in Springfield . He happened to come to see Marcia perform on the same night that Jan and I attended. The house, in Picture 11, where Marcia and other performers stayed, is new, but in the style of over 100 years ago. Jan and I toured the house--everything is done in the grand manner of yesteryear.
