Most everyone is in agreement that something needs to be done to help the millions of uninsured. But what plan? One plan deserving serious consideration is that proposed by the AMA--Voicefortheuninsured.org
The gist of its proposal is that all or part of the billions of dollars the government now spends subsidizing employment based private insurance be given to individuals to buy insurance of their choice. This would be done through tax credits or vouchers--more generous at low income levels--and earmarked for health insurance coverage.
