Senator Claire McCaskill
I knew her when: she appeared before me while I was serving as Juvenile Court Judge in 1974. While a UMKC student, she was acting as a prosecutor. And later, as County Prosecutor, she appeared before me, as a criminal court judge, in arson cases. Her political career has been remarkable. Besides being Prosecutor, she has served in the State Senate, served as State Auditor, and now is a U. S. Senator. Although still in her first term, she has become a key spokesperson for the Democratic party, and she is frequently seen on national TV. She keeps well informed on all the issues, and always appears to be on the right side, even though it means crossing party lines. I am real proud of Claire and the role that is assuming in national politics. Could she become our first female president?
