Power & Light District

I toured the new Power & Light District last Wednesday morning.
Very impressive! The heart of it is between 13th and 14th Streets and between Main St. and Grand Ave. The Sprint Center is just to the East of it, between Grand and Oak. To me this is the biggest thing in sports related construction since the Chiefs-Royals complex. The first game in Arrowhead Stadium was in 1972. Both of these developments were "dream" projects, almost exceeding my imagination. I watched OK State and TX Tech basketball teams practice in Sprint. I particularly liked the spaciousness of the corridors and the outside visibility all the way around the main corridor. In the P & L District many restaurants and shops are already open and more to come. The "Kansas City Live" area one-half block immediately west of Sprint has an outdoor stage for public performances, and with open air bars and restaurants surrounding, it makes for a wonderful gathering place. A transparent canopy is overhead.
