Every One is Doing It

Walter Pavlo, Jr., shown here, served time in the federal penitentiary following his conviction of carrying out a scheme to defraud customers of MCI Communications of some $6 million. He had been a senior manager of that company .He was considered a very successful, and highly respected business executive. Why did he do it? And why do other highly successful business men commit white collar crime?
These were key questions asked by Steve Kraske on Steve's Up to Date broadcast on KCUR this morning. Pressure and zest for more power are factors. But, after listening to Pavlo's very forthright and chilling remarks, I conclude that "Every One is Doing It" is the key factor in good people going wrong. I think this factor is responsible for good people going wrong in many other situations, including
good teenagers getting into trouble through drugs and sex.

Pavlo and Forbes senior editor Neil Weinberg have written a book concerning Pavlo's experiences, entitled "Stolen Without a Gun . . ."
Pavlo is speaking Mar. 6 at 4 PM at UMKC. You can call 816 235 5748 for free reservations.
