Clinton-Obama Debate
As I write this, Jan is over the middle of the Atlantic Ocean on her way from Cairo to New York. Judging last night's debate, I call it a draw. Hillary was the more vigorous and commanding. She also delivered the biggest blow and the lowest blow. The biggest: her last remark to the effect that her most difficult moments were nothing compared to those of other people, including the military families. Her lowest: her charge of Barack borrowing language from others (plagiarism).

With regard to the plagiarism charge...I do think Hillary is right! It's hard for students to learn what plagiarism is when leaders say it isn't wrong to take the exact words from somebody else's speech without any kind of acknowledgement of where it came from. Ironic, in fact, that during the speech in question Obama was making the point that "just words" are so very important!
