For 24 hours: (1) Speak so clearly that no one asks you to repreat what you have just said; and (2) Refrain from saying "You know."
I accepted my own challenge, starting at 8 AM this morning. Why all this? I got to thinking very early this morning that I am not following suggestions in my own book entitled "Better Speech." To meet this challenge, you need to always speak in your natural voice (not nasal and not too low); articulate each syllable; and project. As to "You know," some people utter this annoying expression about every other sentence. It is said when you have to pause to think. You don't hear this expression from good speakers.
