As a proponent of better speech, one of my great irks is the widespread use of the expression "You Know." It is a copout, for something more pertiinent, when you are thinking of what to say.. The words are used interchangeably with "uh." When an athlete is interviewed, it seems like "you know" is uttered about every other sentence. Your better speakers, like Nick Haines, Steve Kraske and George Stephanopoulos never use this expression.
My challenge: Go for 24 hours without saying "You Know."
