Forwarding E-mail
I am being more careful now about forwarding e-mail. In the past year I have been forwarded some stunning information from well-meaning persons, that proved to be hoaxes. The most recent example: about the strenuous life of the soldiers guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier--spending all of their time for 6 months doing nothing but studying the lives of of those buried by the tomb and being committed to no intoxicants for the rest of their lives. Then there was the one forwarded by a trusted friend about how the planet Mars was going to light up the sky and be brighter than the moon. So my new policy will be not to forward any message based upon unsubstantiated statements of facts. E-mail with humor or beauty speak for themselves, and it doesn't matter who originated or what there motivation is. If it is outstanding, it should be shared with others.
