Electronic Equipment of College Students

When I was in college, some 70 years ago, I had no special equipment, unless a study lamp would fall in that category. I have become fascinated by all of the equipment that goes with the college student today. At a birthday dinner for my older daughter this noon, I sat at the same table with students attending Drake University, Western Missouri University and University of Missouri Rolla. I quizzed them as to just what electronical equipment the typical student has today. They were in general agreement as to a laptop computer, a cell phone, a TV and an MP3. This seems like a starting point. But not having a laptop, nor a newer type of cell phone, and being totally mystified by MP3, I have work to be done. This business of texting with one hand gets me, and it is difficult to comprehend all of the music that is apparently available on the MP3. And it has gotten me into the whole subject of electronics, upon which all of above and most of our technological equipment depends.
