Our Democracy on Trial
Our Democracy is in deep trouble. Massive public debt problems; unemployment problems; war problems; health problems; energy problems; traffic problems; poverty problems; climate change problems; immigration problems; education problems; drug problems; corruption problems; pollution problems; national security problems; foreign trade problems; congestion problems; and with all of this, an exploding population. It seems that no human is smart enough to solve our problems--let alone the common men and women who supposedly control our government through the democratic process. As we struggle in our crude and inefficient ways to try to keep things going and to solve our many problems,, someone above must be having a good laugh at our folly. However, as Winston Churchill said in his House of Commons speech Nov. 11, 1947 : "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all (the others)." We must and we will make our democracy work.
