Last night, as a part of the celebration of Jan's birthday, we saw Clint Eastwood's movie Grand Torino at the AMC Leawood Town Center 20 (at 107th and Nall), which happens to be my favorite movie theater. The scheduled starting time was 7:15. Prevues were then shown for 15 minutes prior to the feature. The audience was about the size shown in this picture. I think there were a total of about ten in this large theater. Maybe the economy had something to do with the attendance. But that is not the point of this blog. I think the previews these days ae outrageous. Loud, violent, unreal, and scenes changing so fast that you never get a good view of anything, even if you wanted to. What a contrast to the shows at Loew's Midland many years ago: a newsreel and an interesting short subject before the feature, and oftentimes organ music and a sing- a- long or stage entertainment.
