After much experimenting with my new camcorder, I have reached these conclusions:
I can transfer movies from my camcorder to my computer, and from my computer to a DVD disk, or direct from my camera to DVD disk, using any of the following EMPTY DVD disks, of any brand:
DVD-R DVD+R DVD-RW DVD+RW
The RWs are Rewritable, meaning you can erase and use again. The Rs you cannot erase. There appears to be no difference between the pluses and minuses, except the pluses are newer. But I have heard that the minuses are more compatible.
I learned the hard way that with my equipment you cannot record on any of the R disks or RW disks if there is anything on them. However, you can erase all that is on an RW and then record.

Does the camcorder make your life simple or more complicated ? Just a thought.
