Senator Chuck Schumer gave some good advice, when interviewed on Inauguration Day: You should not spend more than you earn. As a nation we should not consume more than we produce. And we should not import more than we export. I think that our present recession is due in large measure to the wide use of credit, by individuals and by the nation. We have been buying things we could not afford, and our nation has been spending money we don't have. Now our government is being forced to spend much more money that we don't have, but as individuals let's hope that we begin to live within our income.
