Light Bulbs

I have gradually been replacing our indoor incandescent light bulbs with fluorescent bulbs, because the latter, although more expensive, last much longer, don't burn hot, cost less to burn, and are more environmentally friendly. After some research, today I bought the bulbs pictured. four 60 watt equivalent, Energy Star, 10,000 hours, compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs). Purchased from The Home Depot for $17.94 plus tax. The blue Energy Star label means they are certified by the Environmental Protection Agency. The name of the manufacturer seems to be immaterial. You can , of course, get larger or smaller wattage bulbs. These bulbs are not dimmable. In contrast, the Halogena incandescent bulbs, manufactured by Philips, are dimmable, but they do not yet seem to have the EPA seal, and I didn't notice any of their bulbs of the size that I wanted. Some of the CFLs produce a whiter light than others. I like the whiter light. The ones I bought are marked "bright white." Others of the same brand for sale are marked "day light." I'm not sure which are best.
