Brian, you are lucky that this wasn't you. It could have been you if you had enrolled at Rolla 65 years earlier. Tossing was the easy part of the hazing of the freshmen. There was always a bloody fight between the freshmen and sophomores. The winner was the class that succeeded in handcuffing and leg binding all of the members of the other class. This apparently was intended to introduce you to the rough life of mining. You can read all about it in the MO Historical Review, July 2008.
