Sue comments: "I'm afraid MCCain is spending so much time ingratiating himself to the right wing conservatives that he's losing me. I liked him better when he said we need campaign finance reform, we need a workable immigration policy, we need to get together with the other side to get confirmation of federal judges out of the bottleneck it was in."
I have some of the same feeling. McCain is in an interesting predicament. He has tried to soften his views on immigration and tax cuts to cater to the so-called conservatives, but in doing so he is losing some independent voters like Sue. Another big thing that the Republican conservatives hold against him: he works with the Democrats. Well! This is what we need most in our next president: one who will work with the other party. Without some yielding to the conservatives, McCain might not get elected. If elected, I don't think MCain will compromise on his compromising or cease working with the democrats. Maybe McCain is still the best choice even though he has to shed part of his glitter.
