Ancient Egypt (1)
My wife Jan is going to Egypt. I almost wish I were going with her. Because of her trip, I have taken an interest in studying Ancient Egypt. I thought that from time to time I would share with you, through this my Log, some of my learning and thoughts about Ancient Egypt. You hear lots about ancient Greece and Rome, but very little about early Egypt. In typing this message, I have already typed Greece instead of Egypt three times, because when I think of an early civilization I think in terms of the Greeks. But, in fact, Egypt came first, and is regarded as the world's first nation. Originating about 3150 BC and continuing as a nation until 31 BC, when an early Roman empire conquered Egypt and made it a province.
